Horizon - Tapis de course 7.0 AT

Very solid and reliable machine. Being on the heavier side, I was worried about the quality especially running hard. It's definitely stood up to my expectations. Love the incline option and the easy adjustments ok the handles to adjust incline and speed. It's wide enough with comfortable amount of space. Could care less for the tiny fan, that barely blows and is not even blowing air in the right direction. The other issue is adjusting the belt to be centered, with the small adjustments as suggested. Overall decent experience for price paid.

Great price for a treadmill. I have both a Horizon Tread and a Bike. I am 6'2" and can say they are not really designed for taller people. For example, the hand sensors are impossible for me to use given their angle and they are near my lower core. But it works great with my Apple watch.

Overall it's easy to use. I love the "my first 5k" program. This is worth it.

We are happy with our purchase. The treadmill is easy to assemble by following the instructions. It is a quality and sturdy product. The two-week delivery time to Québec is a bit long, however.

The Horizon 7.0 AT is an excellent, well-built treadmill with the high speeds and high incline I wanted for interval training, on a budget price. It's fairly quiet and even comes with a bluetooth heart rate monitor that connects to the treadmill. It doesn't have a fancy screen like the competitors but with the ability to connect it to your phone, there are many apps that have the same features. My only complaint is that the fan is not strong enough and is basically non-existent.

Overall works well, very sturdy and well built. Blue tooth connection to apps and other devices is very clunky and sporadic. But for my purposes is exactly what I was looking for. Works well and easy to use. Choose this unit as I wasn't interested in all the tech that comes with some units.

Construction and Mechanical Components

This treadmill replaces a similarly priced (after accounting for inflation)10 year old mid-range ProForm treadmill that I simply wore out. The Horizon shows me how treadmills have changed in the last decade.

Features I like:

1. Long and narrow running deck. 21” X 54” decks were common a few years ago in this price range. The 7.0 AT is 19” x 60”. This is a great upgrade for me. The narrow belt is quieter. The longer deck feels safer since I can move forward and back while changing stride. I do not feel like can get launched off the rear of the treadmill like I did with a 54” deck.
2. Narrower overall dimensions are easier to fit into my gym (see pictures).
3. It’s quiet. This treadmill shares the same drive motor used in Horizon treadmills costing twice as much. The incline motor is also nearly silent. A real bargain at this price.
4. Nice cushioning. The deck is supported by a set of six elastomer “springs”. This simple suspension is surprisingly comfortable.
5. Good physical controls. It is easy to get started. The scroll wheel controls for making fine incline and speed adjustments are excellent.
6. It’s fast enough. The 7.0 AT is rated to up 19 km/h (12 mph). It starts to struggle above 16 km/h (10 mph). That’s fine for me. Faster runners should take note.

Features I don’t like:

1. The two shelves on either side of the main display are flat with no lips or rails. It does not securely hold drinks or my TV remove. I added some magnets to fix this issue.
2. Changing device settings requires cryptic key presses. Not a big deal since it is not done very often. Just keep the manual handy.
3. The iOS “AFG Fitness App” is needed to change some additional settings like “user names”. The app would not connect. I am contacting customer support to see if my treadmill firmware can be updated. This is a minor concern since everything else works.
4. The tiny fan inside the main is absolutely useless. It shouldn’t be there. I don’t care since I use a floor fan anyways.
5. The preset speed buttons are labelled 3 -12. This makes sense when configured for mph. When setup for km/h you miss the top-end speeds. Not a big limitation since the (excellent) scroll wheel can still be used.

Software and Wireless Features

1. The 7.0 AT works as advertised with my Apple Watch. One NFC tap starts a “Horizon Treadmill” workout. The metrics collected are limited to only speed and cadence. This is a little disappointing since the Apple Watch can collect additional running metrics.
2. You can use the supplied heart rate chest strap. My Polar HRM also works fine. Using either heart rate monitor requires an extra pairing step before each run. That’s a little annoying.
3. Works with Zwift. Pairing is automatic once properly configured. Once again, collected running metrics are limited (no power data is recorded).

Overall Assessment

I think the Horizon 7.0 AT offers good value. The motor and scroll controls are shared with Horizon models costing much more. Software features are good but not great. The sound-level and cushioning are better than expected - especially when compared to my former 10 year old treadmill. When price is considered, I rate it 5 stars out of 5.

After posting my review I was contacted by Greg from Treadmill Factory, asking about my experience and how it could be made right. These things do happen but what is important is how a company deals with issues. He was willing to work with me to improve my experience and kept in communication while we assembled the treadmill. Once assembled, my treadmill is functional and seems solid. He offered to replace a part for me that had incurred minor damage and make adjustments on my shipping charges. I am satisfied with the solutions provided and am changing my one star review as a result of Greg’s customer service efforts.

I have used the treadmill 10 times and I absolutely love it ! Very quiet, great incline, like the Bluetooth connection, not too hard to set up, would purchase again, definitely recommend!

This is a great treadmill for our daily workouts, the company was very helpful throughout the shipment to get our package to our home. Made this a great experience to order from afar.

The treadmill is solid, quiet, and easy to operate. Hooking up to the bluetooth speaker was easy. I haven't had time to explore all the running options yet. When I first started it there was a thumping sound as the belt rotated and I was about to call technical support, but reading the manual further, it explaining that the belt was wearing in, and sure enough after a few uses the thumping sound went away.

Service was excellent from start to finish. Before I purchased, I sent an email after hours asking a few questions and someone got back to me right away with all the information I needed.
Decided to order the Horizon 7.0 and am so happy I did...delivery was way faster than expected and smooth (although 2 delivery people would have been ideal because I opted for it to be left on my front porch. The delivery guy had a cart but it was very difficult to get it up the stairs). On that note, this treadmill is HEAVY!! But once it was in place it is good to go! The treadmill itself is perfect. Although it is not the fanciest treadmill out there, this is perfect for my needs. I love the incline option (1-12), simple, large displays with all the basic stats, 2 large shelves to hold a water bottle and phone, and it quiet. Perfect.

No problems to assemble the unit. The treadmill works fine. Found that the START button has to be pressed harder than normal to activate start.

The item went together well but it incurred damage in transit and no one responded when I contacted the office. Very disappointed in your customer service.

I use the treadmill with Apple Fitness +
It’s great. The sync is easy. The quick adjust for speed and incline works perfectly for the treadmill workouts. There is a little wobble creakiness at all-out speed (over 10) but nothing too bad and no issues at easy to hard intensities. Noise cancelling headphones make it all a non issue.

Assembly was easy. Instructions were clear. I did it myself after having help to get it in position give the heavy weight.

Purchase experience - had no issues at all. All the timelines were accurate or a bit quicker than expected. I live in a small town and was still able to get free delivery.

Assembly was easy with the instruction manual. I have roughly 6 runs on it so far and it feels solid. I like the options and it does everything I need. Thanks 🙂
