Hi all, Can we get a better description on how deep the machine is and the actua width of the machine. Not the size of the bar

The base unit is 55" wide and 33" deep.

Is the bar removable?

The Treadmill Factory

You do not have to assemble it but it is not one that you can take on and off regularly. You can take it all the way to the top if you do not want to use it. It has a counter balance and therefore attached via cables, not possible to simply lift off the functional.

Do we need Olympic plates for the bar or does it connect to the weight stack?

You can do both/either weight stack resistance or actual 2" Olympic plates.

Has anyone else had trouble with the smith machine? It feels awful.

Hi Jordan, the guide rods most probably need to be lubricated. This product works extraordinarily well https://treadmillfactory.ca/products/exercise-equipment-lubricant When the unit is assembled correctly and lubricated, the unit is exceptionally smooth.
