This is an excellent unit. My wife and I use this daily as part of our weight training routine. I have found it useful to strengthen core muscles, reduce fatigue and assist in the rehabilitation of acute sore lumbar and neck pain (after a night of sleeping in the wrong position). This is a highly recommended unit with basic operations that is user friendly. It is also a portable and space saving unit if room limitations does not permit a larger unit. I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Is this a vertical vibration plate?

It is equal vertical plate, not a side to side motion.

Not sure how the straps work with this machine as they are not resistance bands but just straps.

Yes, they are to facilitate squat or arm exercises. They are not rubber as that would absorb the vibration and that would negate the whole purpose.
