The Music is going to Move You

The Music is going to Move You

Did you know Music can be used as a motivational tool to improve performance, increase energy, and reduce perceived effort?

Studies have shown that “good music” (relative to the user) Improves performance during endurance, sprint, and resistance-based activities AND may even reduce the perceived (reported) effort involved in exercise.

This may be because the satisfaction from enjoyable music can offset discomfort during exercise, which can help people exercise longer, and some studies show that even deeper – music can modulate many physiological responses, such as heart rate, catecholamines, and muscle activation.

When choosing music for exercise, it is shown to be most effective when the tempo matches the exercise exertion expectation. Using the BPM / tempo can help sync pace and heartrate.

Music that was deemed to be “good” or “enjoyable” (based on participants’ preferred music genres) better influenced their ergogenic potential and may even be correlated with increased exercise adherence and more effective pre-event routine for athletes.
